If you're receiving "left behind" notifications even when your Spotminders item is in your pocket or with you, this is caused by Apple's anti-stalking protection being overly sensitive.
Why this happens:
Apple's Find My network includes built-in anti-stalking protection that can sometimes trigger false alerts when you regularly carry a tracking device. The system may interpret your card as an "unknown item" traveling with you.
How to fix false notifications:
Share the Item (Recommended)
- Open Find My app → Items → select your Spotminders item.
- Tap "Share Item"
- Add yourself or a family member as an authorized user
- This tells Apple's system you're supposed to have the card
The sharing method usually stops false notifications immediately since it authorizes you to carry the item regularly. Most customers find this resolves the issue within 24 hours.
Will this affect security?
No - sharing the card with yourself or family members doesn't reduce security. Only authorized users can see the card's location and control its settings. The anti-stalking protection will still work if someone else tries to track you without permission.
