Before You Start
Please note that Spotminders don't connect directly to Bluetooth in your phone's settings. They connect through Apple's Find My app using a different process.
Step 1: Prepare Your Card
- Charge the card fully - Place the LEFT side on any Qi wireless charger until you see a green or blue LED
- Turn on the card - Press the button once firmly and listen for a melody sound
- Test if active - Press the button twice quickly - you should hear beeps if the card is working
Step 2: Prepare Your iPhone
- Restart your iPhone completely - Power off, wait 30 seconds, then power on
- Check your Apple ID - Go to Settings → Your Name and ensure you're signed in
- Verify Find My is enabled - Settings → Your Name → Find My → Find My iPhone (must be ON)
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled - Settings → Bluetooth (must be ON)
Step 3: Proper Pairing Process
- Open the Find My app (green icon with radar symbol)
- Tap "Items" at the bottom of the screen
- Tap "Add Item" or the "+" symbol
- Select "Other Supported Item" - NEVER select "AirTag"
- Hold the card close to your iPhone during the pairing process
- Follow all prompts completely without skipping steps
Step 4: Advanced Troubleshooting
If the card still won't connect:
Try Network Switching
- Switch between WiFi and mobile data during setup
- Sometimes changing networks helps with the connection
Reset the Card
- Press the button 5 times quickly in succession
- On the 5th press, hold down for 15 seconds until you hear a melody
- Wait 30 seconds after hearing the melody
- Try the pairing process again
Try Different Location
- Attempt pairing in a different room or location
- Move away from other electronic devices that might interfere
Common Error Messages
"This item is already linked to another Apple Account"
- The card needs to be reset (see reset instructions above)
- Try the reset process 2-3 times if needed
"Searching Items..." never completes
- Restart your iPhone and try again
- Ensure the card is fully charged and responding to button presses
- Try resetting the card
Still Not Working?
If your card still won't connect after trying all these steps:
- Check iOS version - Cards require iOS 14.5 or later
- Try with another iPhone if available
- Contact Support - Include your iPhone model and iOS version
What to send support:
- Video showing button presses and any sounds the card makes
- Photo of the serial number (on the edge of the card)
- Description of exactly what happens during pairing attempts
Important Notes
- Cards connect through Find My app, NOT through iPhone Bluetooth settings
- The process is different from connecting regular Bluetooth devices
- Always select "Other Supported Item" not "AirTag" during setup
- Cards need to be charged and responsive to button presses before pairing
